The S.N.R.Sons Charitable Trust, Coimbatore was established in 1970 by illustrious sons of Sri S.N.Rangaswamy Naidu; being an ardent devotee of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa all the institutions started by the trust bear the name of the holy sage Sri Ramakrishna.

Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences is to acquire knowledge from various medical systems and to create a systematic approach to medical sciences, the College of Pharmacy, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences was established in the year 1987.

SNR Sons charitable trust

SNR Sons Charitable Trust was founded in the year 1970 by the illustrious sons of Sri.S.N.Rangasamy Naidu namely, Late Sri Chinnasamy Naidu, Late Sri.P.R.Ramaswami Naidu, Sr.R.Doraiswami Naidu and Sevaratna Dr.R.Venkatesalu Naidu. Being an ardent devotee of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, all the institutions started by the Trust bear the name of the HolySage "Sri Ramakrishna".

Following the Principles of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's Philosophy of ‘to God through man', the Trust successfully runs 14 organisations significantly catering to social causes of society focusing on Health Care, Education and Service.

Apart from healthcare, it is education that has attracted the attention of the SNR Sons Charitable Trust. This extraordinary penchant for education has resulted in bringing some of the sterling Educational Institutions and Courses within the reach of many, who would otherwise have been left dreaming about education at such levels.

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The focus of the department is on novel research activities which include the synthesis and screening of various heterocyclic compounds for their pharmacological, microbiological, anticancer and antitubercular activities. 

Department of Pharmaceutics

It comprises of a well organized research wing which works to understand the safety, efficacy and biological action of different formulations and designing of novel drug delivery systems like sustained, controlled, transdermal, ocular, mucoadhesive and targeted drug delivery systems.

Department of Pharmacognosy

The department imparts profound knowledge of traditional systems of medicines and studies safety, efficacy and biological activity of herbal plants and products. The area of research involves identification and investigation of medicinal plants for their phytochemical, pharmacological and microbiological activities.

Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

The department has modern facilities to carry out antimicrobial studies for synthetic and natural products. Therapeutic efficacy of antimicrobial agents are studied through serum antibacterial assays and therapeutic drug monitoring. Current research focuses on bio-conversions of pharmaceutical importance, enzyme production and its immobilization.

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis

It has advanced facilities for carrying out qualitative analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals using sophisticated analytical instruments such as LC-MS, HPLC, HPTLC, IR, UV and Fluorescence spectro-photometer.

Department of Pharmacy Practice

The area of specialization includes hospital, clinical and community pharmacy. It is attached to the 500 bedded Sri Ramakrishna Hospital. The department has access to IDIS (containing more than 200 indexed journals) and Micromedex. Clinical pharmacy services like Ward round participation, Prescription monitoring, Providing drug information through a drug information center, Adverse drug reaction monitoring, and patient counseling are practiced.

Eligibility criteria for admission

B.Pharmacy (4 years) HSC,PDC, intermediate with 50% aggregate in physics, chemistry and biology or maths or pass in D.Pharmacy. D.Pharmacy candidates with 50% aggreate marks are eligible for direct admission to II Year B.Pharmacy.

Pharm.D (6 years) Pass in HSC,PDC, intermidiate with physics, chemistry and biology or maths or pass in D.Pharmacy.

M.Pharmacy (2 years) - pass in B.Pharmacy from any recognized Indian University with 55% aggregate marks.

Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) (3 years): A pass in B.Pharm course from any institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of india under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

Ph.D - Pass in M.Pharmacy from any recognized Indian University.

To cater the scientific needs of the pharmacy profession, the institution has a fully equipped college building consisting of 19 laboratories with sophisticated instruments, 6 lecture halls, 2 seminar halls, a museum and an air conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 1000. Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls.

A complete and well maintained library with over 10000 books, national and international journals, internet facilities, audiovisual aids and CD's on recent developments in pharmaceutical sciences.

Museum

It consists of informative & wonderfully arranged drug display boards that showcase the latest allopathic and herbal formulations. Anatomical models, informative charts, specimens, photographs and news updates related to the field of pharmaceutical sciences also enrich the collection.
