education initiative GRT Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research
(GRTIPER) & it is established in 2019 promoted by GRT Mahalakshmi
educational charitable trust under the leadership of visionary extraordinaire
philanthropist Shri. G. Rajendran, whose contribution to the Indian jewel
industry, Tourism and Hotel Industry Remains Outstanding.
Located on the
Chennai-Tirupathi highway near Tiruttani, GRTIPER is perched amidst a sprawling
87-acre plot where 3.0 acres is dedicated for the institution, with a robust
contemporary architecture befitting global standards.
GRTIPER is approved by
Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi and The Tamil Nadu government. It is
proposed to offer Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), 2 years course with
affiliation to Director of Medical Education, Chennai and Bachelor of Pharmacy
(B.Pharm), 4 years course with affiliation to Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University,
Chennai.

Dr.R.MEENAKSHI SUNDARAM

Greetings! I am delighted
to welcome you to the GRT Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research
(GRTIPER). The principal/director of the institute Dr. R.Meenakshi Sundaram has
obtained his masters in Department of Pharmacognosy & Ph.D. from the Tamil
Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. He has over 25 years of experience
in the field of teaching and research.
In the era of global
technological transformation in the field of pharmacy, there is ever increasing
the need for high-quality education and research institutions for producing
highly trained professionals. GRT Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research
(GRTIPER), Tiruttani, Tamil Nadu has steadily established itself as a reputed
institute in northern region imparting education in pharmaceutical sciences and
research.
We at GRT Institute of
Pharmaceutical Education and Research (GRTIPER) are committed in providing

Courses
Diploma in Pharmacy
The course of study
in diploma in pharmacy offered by GRT Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and
Research (GRTIPER), Tiruttani, Thiruvallur district comprises of part-I and
part-II. The curriculum and syllabus for the course is prescribed by pharmacy
council of India, New Delhi. There shall be an examination in the first year on
the subjects of part-I and an examination in the second year comprising the
part-II subjects.The examination conducting authority is the Director of
Medical Education, Chennai.
The diploma in
pharmacy course of academic training is of 2 years duration with minimum of 180
working days per year followed by a practical training not less than 500 hours.
Bachelor of Pharmacy
The course of
bachelor of pharmacy will extend over a period of four academic years. The
curriculum and syllabus for the course is prescribed by pharmacy council of
India, New Delhi. Each year is divided into two semesters of six months. The
examination conducting authority is The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical
University, Chennai.
The course of study
of B. Pharm Ist, IInd, IIIrd, IVth,
Vth, VIth, VIIth, and VIIIth semester
will include the respective theory and practical subjects.

Pharmacognosy
Pharmacognosy is the distinct branch
of Pharmacy field due to its wide convention. This discipline provides
knowledge about the biologically active components or drugs that can be
extracted and formulated from plants or other natural sources. Recently,
plant-derived phytopharmaceuticals are perceived by all over the world for
various ailments due to devoid of side effects. The department is well equipped
with various facilities to carry out the discovery and development of herbal
drugs and phytopharmaceuticals supported by the herbal garden facilities
available in the department. Of note, this helps the students to acquire
knowledge over the quality control and biological assessments of drugs which is
very much prerequisite to get into the Pharmaceutical industry, Academia,
Research & Development of new drugs.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a branch of discipline in the health
science that deals with discovery, development, and identification &
interpretation of the mode of biologically active compounds at the molecular
level. The faculties in the pharmaceutical chemistry department experienced
foreign exposure and promote teaching and learning in various chemistry
subjects by inculcating various ICT tools that meet with international
standards. The faculties are the inspiration to the students for their day to
day activities and getting constant support at various junctures. They shape
the student's community into outstanding professionals by their expertise. The
department is vested with state of art infrastructure and provides top-notch facilities
to the budding pharmacists inculcated with various skills, including
communication skills, psychomotor skills, critical thinking, and
problem-solving skills. The department offers training in various aspects of
pharmaceutical chemistry to both undergraduate and diploma students, who may
subsequently be taking their footsteps in research, academic, industry, and
health care settings. The department aimed to prepare the professionally
well-qualified pharmacy graduates to excel in this competitive world in various
aforementioned sectors.
Pharmaceutical Analysis
The pharmaceutical analysis is a branch of chemistry in the
pharmacy discipline, which involves the series of processes for the
identification, determination, quantitation, purification, and separation of
the chemical components by utilization of various analytical techniques and
instruments. We aimed to provide industry-ready professionals for the analysis
and quality control of pharmaceuticals with the appropriate skill set,
knowledge base, and practical expertise through learning the various aspects of
pharmaceutical analysis. During the study with the help of well-equipped and
sophisticated analytical instruments that meets the standards of pharmaceutical
industries so that students can obtain hands-on experience with the practical
study supported and supervised by experienced subject experts.
Pharmacology
Pharmacology is an astonishing discipline in the pharmaceutical
sciences that are concerned with the study of how a drug affects the biological
system and how the body responds to the drug. The discipline encompasses the
mechanism of action of drugs in all the levels of an organism along with their
toxicological effects that are obtained from different sources available in the
universe. Which paves the basic training for the students of both undergraduate
and diploma to get into the field of research and as well as to become a good
clinical pharmacist in all the healthcare provisions. On this track, the
department goal line is to concoct exceptional students for prolific and
successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, research, and
public sectors. The department is vested with experienced faculties and feel
proud of their role in imparting various skills to the students besides
inculcating human values.
Pharmaceutics
Pharmaceutics is one of the disciplines in the pharmacy that
concerned with the process of developing various safe and effective medication
(such as solid, semisolid, and liquid dosage forms, etc.) from a new chemical
entity with the utilization of various techniques involved in this field of
science. The department is equipped with sophisticated instruments that are
needed for creating effective dosage forms such as ointments, creams, tablets,
capsules, and injections, etc. During the study period, students will be
trained to get exposure to the various aspects of pharmaceutics that are needed
to meet industrial standards and acquire knowledge and skills in this field
with the help of highly experienced faculties.
