About
K.K. College of Pharmacy was established in the year 1992
under the leadership of Prof. KR.Arumugam, Educationalist, Academician who has
served as a member of senate and governing council of the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R.
Medical University. Ever since its inception, the Institute grew from strength
to strength starting with diploma and degree in pharmacy and gaining the
full-fledged pharmacy college status including master and Ph. D Programme in
Chennai.
K.K. College of Pharmacy is affiliated to The Tamilnadu
Dr. M.G.R. Medical University Chennai and approved by the AICTE , &
Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and Govt of Tamil Nadu The college is
located in a green environment at Gerugambakkam, Off Porur - Kundrathur Road.

K.K.College of Pharmacy has spacious laboratories and
well equipped with latest sophisticated instruments. To our credit we have
highly qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching faculty.
I strongly believe that the Pharmacists are responsible for producing good quality medicines. We say it with a sense of pride that K.K.College of Pharmacy provides best educational training and wide range of opportunities to our students to enhance their career.
The facilities
Library
Each Department has well equipped laboratories with
latest machineries and instruments to enable the students to have hands on
training. The college has a good computer lab which is used extensively by the
staff and students to update their knowledge,
Library is located at the ground floor with seating
capacity of 100. The library has large collection of books in Pharmaceutics,
Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacy Practice.
The library also subscribes to 15 national and10 International Journals &
E.Journals. The library has nearly 100 project reports and back volumes are
available in the reference section. The total area of the library is 3,500
sq.ft. The library also has broad band wireless HIFI Internet facility which is
accesable to the students.

A pass in Diploma in Pharmacy is eligible for
direct entry into II year of B.Pharmacy course

PHARM.D :
6years course (5year
of academic course & one year of internship residency training at Hospital)
was introduced from the academic year 2013-2014. This course was approved by
PCI. New Delhi and the TN Dr. MGR. Medical University.
Minimum qualification for admission to Pharm.
D Course:
A Pass in 10+2 exam with physics and
chemistry as compulsory subjects along with Maths / Biology.
A Pass in D.Pharm Course from an institution
approved by the PCI.
Departments
DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICS
Pharmaceutics is the study of quantitative aspects of
drug delivery. It involves the design, development and evaluation of drugs in
combination with an appropriate dosage form. The department has spacious
laboratories, machine room, latest Instruments like Rotary tablet punching
machine, eight basket Dissolution Apparatus, Disintegration apparatus,
Stability chamber, BOD Incubator etc.,
Pre formulation studies, drug excipient compatibility
studies and stability studies are carried out in the department with the focus
on developing newer dosage forms.
The department also has a bio-technology laboratory in
which the study of enzyme technology, fermentation, bioassay, micro biological
assays are carried out.
The main focus of the research activities in the department
is on the development of novel drug delivery systems such as microspheres,
mucoadhesives, transdermal patches, nano particles, liposomes and colon
targeted drug delivery systems.
Our faculty members have published many research papers
in International and national Journals.
DEPARTMENT
OF PHARMACOLOGY
Pharmacology is the scientific discipline that studies
about drug and their mechanisms by which they alter biological systems. The
research areas focused in the department are toxicological studies,
neuropharmacological screening of herbal products & synthetic drugs.
The department has spacious laboratories and is equipped
with latest instruments like Analgesiometer, Histamine Chamber, Actophotometer,
Eddy's Hot Plate, Convulsiometer, Elevated plus maze, Pole climbing apparatus
etc., for conducting Practicals and carrying out research projects.
The Department is striving towards our vision by
providing quality education that creates a platform to the students. The goal
is to prepare exceptional students for productive and successful careers in
pharmaceutical industry, academia, research and public sectors.
ANIMAL HOUSE FACILITIES
The department has centralized animal house approved by
CPCSEA (Committee for the purpose of control and supervision of Experimented
animals) with Registration no: 1395/a/10/CPCSEA for conducting experiments on
Mice, Rats, Guinea Pigs, and Rabbits.
Our faculty members have published many research papers
in International and national Journals.
DEPARTMENT
OF PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY
The prime objective of the department is to educate and
train the students to the International Standards. The department has
academically qualified and well experienced sincere and dedicated teaching
faculty.
The department has well equipped and spacious
laboratories to carry out synthesis molecular modeling, development and
validation of analytical methods. The department has latest Instruments like
HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Flame photometer and Turibidimeter,
Potentiometer, Conductivity meter and UV-Chamber etc.,
The research areas focused in the department are
synthesis, method characterization and biological evaluation of polynuclear
heterocyclic compounds, Method development and validation of the newly marketed
formulations by sophisticated instruments.
Our faculty members have published many research papers
in International and national Journals.
DEPARTMENT
OF PHARMACOGNOSY
Pharmacognosy is the study of drugs from natural origin,
especially drugs from plants. Research in Pharmacognosy is important because it
leads to new types of therapeutic agents, information on herbal medicines, and
new methods for analysis of drugs, toxins and herbal preparations.
The department has excellent facilities for research
activities which are focused in isolation, purification and investigation of
active pharmaceuticals from the plants, study the phytochemistry, phytotherapy
and pharmaceutical bio technology (tissues and cell culture), development and
characterization of herbal formulations.
Our faculty members have published many research papers
in International and national Journals.
Research activities
Computer laboratory is fully equipped to provide students
with an exciting environment to implement and experiment knowledge acquired in
the classroom. 25 set of PC based micro processor, all types of tools,
accessories, software necessary for pharmacy students.
Publications
Ms. P. KAVITHA, Dept. of Pharmaceutics has
published a Research article on Formulation and Evaluation of Flucloxacillin
sodium dispersible Tablets in International journal of Pharm. Biomed sciences.
Prof. Dr. K.SENTHILKUMARAN, HOD, Dept. of
Pharmaceutics has published two Research Articles on Formulation and Evaluation
of sustained Release Bioadhesive tablets of Ofloxacin using 32 factorial
designs.Formulation Development and In- vitro evaluation of Gastro retentive
hollow microspheres of Famotidine in International Journal of Pharmaceutical
Investigation
Mr. C. Ronald Darwin, Dept. of Pharmacology
has published a research article entitled "Acute and sub-acute
toxicological evaluation of aqueous and ethanol fractions of Annona Squamosa
root a traditional medicinal herb" in Research Journal of Pharmacy and
Technology
Mrs. K.SONIA, Dept. of Pharm. Chemistry
presented a poster in "Indo American Pharmaceutical Regulatory
Symposium" held at Sri Ramachandra University on the topic of
"Prescribing patterns in Rheumatoid Arthritis in South Indian Population
in a Tertiary care Teaching Hospital"
Our 3 Research papers were presented as
Poster in the 63rd IPC, Bangalore.
Placement cell
Placement cell is an important and necessary part of a
developed and competitive Institution like K.K.College of Pharmacy which is
celebrating 20 years of excellence in Pharmacy education.
The objective of placement cell is to place the students
of different branches in well recognized industries/ institutions situated
throughout India.
This cell maintains a goal to develop the career of the
students studying in this institution as well as to organize different kind of
job opportunities in various organizations, further to update the knowledge of
the students.

K.K.College of Pharmacy is only 15 minutes from the
Chennai International airport, 45 minutes drive from the Central and Egmore
railway stations and 30 minutes from the CMBT Bus station, 15 minutes from The
Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Guindy. MTC buses operate from
saidapet to porur Bus route no. M54B via Gergambakkam at KKCP stopping.
